Thank you for visiting Bestwood Park Church website. We hope that, one day soon, we will be able to meet you in person and that you will find us welcoming and hospitable.

Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a Christian to visit the church or the website. We are especially happy to meet people who are wondering what church and Christianity is all about. Don't worry if you are not familiar with church as nobody will put pressure on you to do or say anything that you are not comfortable with. We are always happy to explain anything that doesn't make sense to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or if we can be of help to you.

Sunday Worship

We are a group of about 40 Christians, from the local area, who meet for worship each Sunday. Services are held at 9:00am and 10:30am. Visitors (and new members) are very welcome at either service.

The church is an ecumenical partnership between the Methodist Church and the Church of England. Our Worship draws on the traditions of both denominations. We try to make it lively and inspiring with clear teaching. Our worship is led by our Clergy, our Missioner, Anglican Readers or Methodist Local Preachers. The weekly pattern of Sunday worship is as follows:

09:00 am - Holy Communion. This is a quiet reflective service without hymns or songs. The service lasts less than an hour.

10:30 am - Morning Worship (with Holy Communion, usually on the second and fourth Sundays of the month). At each service we sing a mixture of traditional hymns and more modern Christian songs. Our singing is accompanied by an electric piano. We do not have a choir or worship band. The 10:30 service lasts about an hour. Tea and coffee is served after this service. This is a good time to get to know other church members.

We welcome all baptised Christians, of any denomination, to share in Communion with us.

Faith & Light

We host Nottingham North Faith & Light Community; a group of people who have learning disabilities, their families, carers and friends who meet for friendship, sharing, worship and a simple meal. The community is part of a world-wide ecumenical Christian movement of over 1600 Faith & Light communities. Faith and Light meets once a month at 3:00 pm in the afternoon usually on the 3rd Sunday. What We Believe

We believe in God who made us and the entire universe.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his Son, who came into our world and lived among us to bring us new life and God's forgiveness for our sins.

We believe in the Holy Spirit who gives us the power to live in God's way.

We seek to Worship God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit and tell others the good news of his love for us.

Children

Barnaby Bear with young church member Children are very welcome at Bestwood Park Church. Currently, they remain in the church during services but we provide an area for quiet activities. All children, who have been baptised, are welcome to share in Communion if their parents wish. We have a Child Safeguarding Policy in place (Copy available on request) and everyone working with children has undergone a CRB check with Southwell & Nottingham Anglican Diocese.

Facilities for people with additional needs

The church building has easy level-access for wheelchairs and mobility scooters to almost all areas. We have a large car park allowing easy access for specially adapted vehicles. Our worship area is flexible and spacious which allows us to easily accommodate several wheelchairs. There are disabled toilet facilities.

We have a hearing loop system installed. Large print hymn books, song & service sheets are available at each service.

We welcome people of all abilities. People with learning difficulties are very welcome to join all our services. The church also hosts a Faith & Light Community which meets once per month on a Sunday afternoon.

Potted History

Bestwood Park Church was formed by the joining together of two congregations. The present building began life as a Methodist Church in the 1960s. Just around the corner, on Cherry Orchard Mount, was an Anglican Church called St. Luke's. About 28 years ago these two congregations decided to come together and form what is known as a Local Ecumenical Partnership. As well as Anglicans and Methodists our congregation these days includes people from all sorts of backgrounds and our church building is used by many different organisations.

We usually have two ordained clergy (one Anglican & One Methodist) plus a Pioneer Missioner who works with children & families. Our Anglican minister has just retired and a replacement has not yet been appointed.

Finding Us

Bestwood Park Church is on a large housing estate on the northern outskirts of Nottingham City. The church is on the corner of Elmbridge and Beckhampton Roads - close to the Co-op Store.
